Drake – Thank Me later

Drake - Thank Me Later Cover Art

So, I just picked up Drake's new album 'Thank Me Later' and it's fire just as I had expected. I had heard most of the leaks since my second home is datpiff.com so i wasn't surprised when only 3 of the songs were new to me. It's just nice to have a quality copy that's properly mastered that sounds amazing on my system and not to mention supporting your own.

Watching Drake come up over the years is as though I've been waiting for 5 years just to pay for an album from him since I haven't been able to support the kid by going to a show or whatever. Either way, the albums been on repeat since I got it yesterday morning.

I love Over, although I've played it out for myself since i first heard it. Miss me is another great tune and Swizz on Fancy is pretty sick too. Nails done, hair done, everything BIG. The only tune I'm not feeling is Karaoke but other than that amazing album front to back.

I've heard tons of other tunes that didn't make the album and I'm wondering why. This tune definitely should have been on there.

<rant>

Anyway, Drizzy has been catchin a lot of heat from the haters regarding the hype for this album. I'm hearing a lot of, "...he just isn't the greatest lyrisist..." and "hes just a rich jewish kid from toronto that thinks hes hard as f*ck...".

One word... Listen!

To all the haters who don't know what they are talking about, take some time and actually listen to a few tracks. I've listened to almost every tune his put out and no where do you hear him talking all hard, claiming hes a gangster... In fact you'll notice the opposite. As for the hate on his lyricism... y'all are just ignorant! Drake's flow is beyond ill and compared to whats out there right now... shit... hes right up there with the favs like Jay Z, Lil Wayne, etc, etc

</rant>

Anyway, go pick up the album if you haven't already. Great tunes, support your own... not much more to say but...

Peace

Down With Webster to play in Toronto, ON @ The Sound Academy

Wear White!

This month will be a good one for Torontonian D Dub fans. About 5 days after a nationally brodcast live performance @ the Much Music Video awards, Down With Webster will be throwing a jam @ the Sound Academy June 25th, 2010.

DWW and Sound Academy go together like ice cream and fat kids and in the last two shows  that they have been here they have torn the effing place down. Something about the atmosphere at Sound Academy... huge stage, nice big pit for me to take pictures and get hit by crowd surfers in, great sound and lighting, huge capacity... just plain sickkk.

Anyway, we still have no word if there will be anyone cool opening for them or if they'll be releasing any new tunes but I'll keep you posted as soon as I know.

Down With Webster To Play 2010 Much Music Video Awards

Recently nominated for two MMVA's, Favorite New Group & Best Pop Video, Down With Webster is set to perform at this years MMVA's! This is a pretty big achievement for the boys of DWW as they will have just returned from their 40 day tour across the states with Cute Is What We Aim For.

I'm definitely looking forward to a serious live performance... it's what they do best! Get ready for about 4000 screaming girls waiting in line at Much Music the day (and probably night before) they give out wristbands (June 12th btw :) )

Other performances include Adam Lambert, Ke$ha, Marianas Trench and Miley Cyrus (who will also be co-hosting).

Should be a good show! Stay tuned for more information on Down With Websters next performance at the Sound Academy too!

I almost forgot... Go to http://mmva.muchmusic.com/urfave-video/ and vote for Down With Webster!!! DO IT!

Operation Charlie Horse: Now in effect!

Whattup people!

I've recently decided to start up a new project to pimp my audio system in my Civic.

If your wondering what the meaning of "Operation Charlie Horse" is you should probably realize that the whole point of code-names is to be covert and sneaky... But if I had to make a meaning I'd probably say that my bass is gonna pump so hard that you'll get a Charlie Horse in ya face. Beitch!

Alpine 10" Type R's in a ported box.

Alpine 10 inch Type R's in a ported box.

Anyway... Here's the plan.

Part one is going to consist of getting two 10" Alpine Type r Subs in a custom made ported box matched up with a 1000watt Alpine mono block amp! I'll also be getting a new deck/head unit and probably some Dynamat to help lower the rattle that the subs are going to produce.

Part two will be replacing both the front and back factory speakers. The front will be a set of components and the back will be a set of coaxial speakers. These will be driven by another amp which I haven't decided on... Probably a Alpine 4 channel.

This is all going to be done by the masters @ Chase Audio.

Graff Alley – Queen & Spadina

Graff Alley

© Marcus Bowden 2009

A bit South of Queen St. W, from Spadina to Portland, this alley is filled with some of the most amazing graffiti I've ever seen. I got there a bit late in the day so I had to work quick before the sun went down but I shot some amazing pieces. From cryptic lettering to some more contemporary pieces, this alley is a tribute to Toronto's graffiti scene. Check out the entire set on my flickr here.
